Kyrgyz Temir Joly bears billions of losses due to lack of wagons

The State Enterprise Kyrgyz Temir Joly bears losses and can’t be engaged in freight carriage due to the lack of wagons, the deputy Abdykapar Sultanov said today at a meeting of the Parliament.

He recalled that raises the issue of the state of the railway for half a year, but there is no result. Kyrgyz Temir Joly is considered to be state-owned company, paying millions of tax in the budget, but it lacks wagons for transportation.

«They have suffered losses of over six billion soms due to the fact that they are not provided with wagons and can’t provide freight and cargo transportation. They have no turnover. In 2016, the southern department of Kyrgyz Temir Joly had 120 wagons. At present, there are only 30. This means that this year export of producers of the southern region will reduce. We made a decision on allocation of $ 10 million of the assets of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund to Kyrgyz Temir Joly. However, the State Property Management Fund doesn’t sign the document and Kyrgyz Temir Joly can’t buy equipment for transportation and is working at the lowest capacity," Abdykapar Sultanov said.
