Dinara Kemelova, Special Representative of the President for the implementation of a Five-Year Action Plan for the Development of Mountain Regions, took part in the international forum Sagarmatha Sambaad in Kathmandu (Nepal). The press service of the head of state reported.
According to it, Dinara Kemelova noted the key initiatives of Kyrgyzstan in the sphere of sustainable development of mountain regions, as well as international events aimed at promoting the mountain agenda at the global level.
Within the framework of the international forum, the delegation from Kyrgyzstan also held a number of meetings with the Minister for Forests and Environment of Nepal Aina Bahadur Shahi Thakuri and Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of India Bhupender Yadav.
The issues of combating accelerated melting of glaciers, degradation of pastures and forests were discussed.
The Special Representative of the Head of State emphasized the importance of coordinating international efforts in the field of mountain agenda, expanding access of mountain countries to climate finance and promoting joint projects aimed at increasing the resilience of mountain areas to climate change.
