Illegal migrants work on construction site in Bishkek, organizers detained

Security services detained two foreign nationals who organized a channel of illegal migration into Kyrgyzstan. The press center of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

Earlier, a law enforcement source told 24-kg.com news agency that foreign citizens from Uzbekistan and Turkey were illegally working at a construction site on 7 April Street. Additionally, one of the migrants had posted videos on social media showing himself standing on a construction crane arm without any safety harness.

The SCNS press center told 24-kg.com news agency that an inspection of the site revealed a scheme of illegal migration — 46 foreign nationals were found working there. They had entered Kyrgyzstan on tourist visas and were not authorized to work in the country. Each of them was fined 10,000 soms for violating the terms of stay and labor regulations in the Kyrgyz Republic. The construction company’s management also received an official protocol for violation of the rules of hiring and employing foreign labor.

Furthermore, two foreign nationals have been detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek for organizing the illegal migration channel. The investigation is ongoing.
